30 Days of Harry Potter (Day 1 - Nyxen&Giveaway)

Today is day 1 of this super awesome month long feature on my blog called 30 Days of Harry Potter! For the month of November, bloggers and authors will get to revel in the amazingness of Harry Potter, their experiences, memories, et cetera, all leading up to the premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. There will even be posts AFTER the premiere. Aren't you excited?

Some of these posts will be long because it's a time where you turn into the fangirl or fanboy that you are and gush on all things Harry Potter. Today we're starting off with my memories and what not on Harry Potter.

It all started in November of 2001. I don't remember the exact date but in November my grandparents and uncles took me to see Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. I was about 7 (well, I was 7) and hardly knew anything about Harry Potter and hardly cared about it (gasp, I know). I went into the movie theater and was immediately scared. Okay, not immediately. The part that scared me the most was when Harry was in the Restricted Section at Hogwarts and he takes out that book where the face pops out and screams. I jumped in my seat and closed my eyes. I still remember not liking it, and being too afraid to sleep.

I don't quite remember when I started fangirling about it, though. I never watched Chamber of Secrets at the movie theater but I did watch the third one in 2004. I loved that one, it's still my favorite to this day.

But it wasn't until 5th, going onto 6th grade, that I decided to read the books. I had money, I don't know how, and I bought all six books. It was only about $46 for all six. Pretty awesome! I read all of them in a month and a half and fell in love. I think it was the fact that Harry Potter started out a young, eleven year old boy who you see grow up right before your eyes. That, and the fact that it involves magic, lots and lots of magic.

Ever since 2006, I've been hooked on Harry Potter. And the wait from the sixth to the seventh book was agony. And throughout the years, I've seen all the movies, wrote fanfiction, and dreamed that my Hogwarts letter would show up, even if I wasn't eleven.

I'll be honest. Sometimes I cried because I knew it was a fake world and I really wanted it to be real. But that was a long time ago and I now know that it is real. I'm just magically challenged.

Harry Potter has been with me since the beginning of my pre teen years, and I am glad. Those were pretty horrible years. But I also want to thank Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling for inspiring me in everything I do.

Did you know my name, Nyxen, was inspired by Harry Potter? I was writing a fanfiction (still am, actually) when I created my own type of magical being. And now, it's stuck and I am in love with it!

I guess there isn't anything to say. I love Harry Potter, I want to thank J.K. Rowling for sharing her world with us and that I am eternally grateful for which everything I've done that somehow involved Harry Potter.

For the premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I am begging my mom to take me to the midnight premiere. She won't do it, but I'm hoping she changes her mind. Really hoping.

And end reminiscing.
I would have written more but then you would have been bored to death. There are a lot of things but this is what I wrote.

Now is time for a giveaway!
It's a small giveaway but at least it's something. I'm sort of broke so sorry if it isn't anything fun.

I am giving away the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince DVD. Sadly, it isn't the two-disc special edition but I hope you like it nonetheless. :D
