Nyxen's Waiting on Wednseday (10)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

Wow! It's been awhile since I've done a W.o.W. Today is a book somewhat special because, well, it comes out September 14. And that's that day of my birthday. :D

If you had to choose between Heaven and Hell, which would it be?

Are you sure about that...?

Frannie Cavanaugh is a good Catholic girl with a wicked streak. She's spent years keeping everyone at a distance--even her closest friends--and it seems her senior year will be more of the same...until Luc Cain enrolls in her class. No one knows where he came from, but Frannie can't seem to stay away from him. What she doesn't know is that Luc works in Acquisitions--for Hell--and she possesses a unique skill set that has the king of Hell tingling with anticipation. All Luc has to do is get her to sin, and he's as tempting as they come. Frannie doesn't stand a chance.

Unfortunately for Luc, Heaven has other plans, and the angel, Gabe, is going to do whatever it takes to make sure that Luc doesn't get what he came for. And it isn't long before they find themselves fighting for more than just her soul.

But if Luc fails, there will be Hell to pay...for all of them

Personal Demons by Lisa Desrochers
Paperback: 368 pages
Publisher: Tor Teen; First Edition edition (September 14, 2010)

I can't wait for this book because I've been hearing a lot of good things about it and the author is really friendly on twitter. NOT just because it's coming out on my birthday. :P

Nyxen's Waiting On Wednesday (9)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine. :D

Let's get started!!

Today I am waiting for Wither by Lauren Destefano.
Thanks to modern science, every human being has become a ticking genetic time bomb—males only live to age twenty-five, and females only live to age twenty. In this bleak landscape, young girls are kidnapped and forced into polygamous marriages to keep the population from dying out.

When sixteen-year-old Rhine Ellery is taken by the Gatherers to become a bride, she enters a world of wealth and privilege. Despite her husband Linden's genuine love for her, and a tenuous trust among her sister wives, Rhine has one purpose: to escape—to find her twin brother and go home.

But Rhine has more to contend with than losing her freedom. Linden's eccentric father is bent on finding an antidote to the genetic virus that is getting closer to taking his son, even if it means collecting corpses in order to test his experiments. With the help of Gabriel, a servant she trusts, Rhine attempts to break free, in the limted time she has left.

Not only is the plot original and very intriguing but the cover is absolutely stunning! 2011 seems like a looooong wait for this book. I can't wait to get my hands on it.

Nyxen's Waiting on Wednesday (8)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine. :D It's the time where you showcase the books you are eagerly waiting for.

Let's get started!
Today I am waiting for:

Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she’s made it out of the bloody arena alive, she’s still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Who do they think should pay for the unrest? Katniss. And what’s worse, President Snow has made it clear that no one else is safe either. Not Katniss’s family, not her friends, not the people of District 12. Powerful and haunting, this thrilling final installment of Suzanne Collins’s groundbreaking The Hunger Games trilogy promises to be one of the most talked about books of the year.

Don't you hate that it tells us nothing of the story! I want to know what's going to happen. The release date is sooooo close. It comes out August 24th...but I'm going to get it the 28th. Dang! I want this book already. LIKE NAO.

So, what are you waiting for?

Nyxen's Waiting On Wednesday (6)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine where you get to showcase the new books you are waiting to be released.

Today's WoW is:
Told in a letter to her captor by 16-year-old Gemma, Stolen explores the influence that a really wild and remote space can have on the inner development of a young woman.

Gemma, a British city-living teenager, is kidnapped while on holiday with her parents. Her kidnapper, Ty, takes her to the wild land of outback Australia. To Gemma’s city-eyes, the landscape is harsh and unforgiving and there are no other signs of human life for hundreds of kilometres in every direction. Here, there is no escape. Gemma must learn to deal with her predicament, or die trying to fight it.

Ty, a young man, has other ideas for her. His childhood experience of living in outback Australia has forever changed the way he sees things. But he too has been living in the city; Gemma’s city. Unlike Gemma, however, he has had enough. In outback Australia he sees an opportunity for a new kind of life; a life more connected to the earth. He has been watching and learning about Gemma for many years; when he kidnaps her, his plan finally begins to take shape.

But Ty is not a stereotypical kidnapper and, over time, Gemma comes to see Ty in a new light, a light in which he is something more sensitive. The mysteries of Ty, and the mystery of her new life, start to take hold. She begins to feel something for her kidnapper when he wakes screaming in the night. Over the time spent with her captor, Gemma’s appreciation of him develops into what could be referred to as Stockholm syndrome.

I think this is a rather awesome read! And even though it's published in the UK I don't think it's out here.

Nyxen's Waiting On Wednesday (5)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine.

Today's WoW is:
In Shiver, Grace and Sam found each other. Now, in Linger, they must fight to be together. Add into the mix a new wolf named Cole, whose own past has the potential to destroy the whole pack, and Isabelle, who already lost her brother to the wolves. At turns harrowing and euphoric, Linger is a spellbinding love story that explores both sides of love-the light and the dark, the warm and the cold-in a way you will never forget.

I loved Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater and I am just as excited for Linger. I want to read this book so bad.

What are you waiting for?

Nyxen's Waiting on Wednesday (2)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking The Spine. It is to showcase up and coming books that I'm looking foward too.

Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce
Little Brown
Publication Date: June 7, 2010

For Scarlett and Rosie March, the world is not what it seems. Werewolves, called Fenris, live among them in the form of good-looking men who prey on pretty young girls. When a Fenris attacked the March girls, it killed their grandmother and left them emotionally and, for Scarlett, physically scarred. Since then, they have taken action and revenge. With the help of a friend, Silas, the girls are on a mission—to destroy as many Fenris as they can. This goal becomes more complicated when they try to unravel the mystery behind the pack and prevent the next "Potential" from transforming fully into a soulless, evil monster. Pearce is on the mark with this modern-day retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. Told by the sisters in alternating chapters, this well-written, high-action adventure grabs readers and never lets go. Rosie and Scarlett are true heroines; smart, tough, and determined, but their special bond is put to test when Rosie and Silas's relationship becomes more than just friendship.

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine. And this is my very first WoW! It showcases unreleased books that we are anxiously waiting for. My first WoW is...

The Clockwork Angel
Author: Cassandra Clare
Publication Date: August 31st 2010

---From Amazon
Magic is dangerous—but love is more dangerous still.

When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.

Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What's more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own.

Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herself fascinated by—and torn between—two best friends: James, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm's length . . . everyone, that is, but Tessa. As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world. . . . and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.
