Nyxen's Waiting on Wednseday (10)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

Wow! It's been awhile since I've done a W.o.W. Today is a book somewhat special because, well, it comes out September 14. And that's that day of my birthday. :D

If you had to choose between Heaven and Hell, which would it be?

Are you sure about that...?

Frannie Cavanaugh is a good Catholic girl with a wicked streak. She's spent years keeping everyone at a distance--even her closest friends--and it seems her senior year will be more of the same...until Luc Cain enrolls in her class. No one knows where he came from, but Frannie can't seem to stay away from him. What she doesn't know is that Luc works in Acquisitions--for Hell--and she possesses a unique skill set that has the king of Hell tingling with anticipation. All Luc has to do is get her to sin, and he's as tempting as they come. Frannie doesn't stand a chance.

Unfortunately for Luc, Heaven has other plans, and the angel, Gabe, is going to do whatever it takes to make sure that Luc doesn't get what he came for. And it isn't long before they find themselves fighting for more than just her soul.

But if Luc fails, there will be Hell to pay...for all of them

Personal Demons by Lisa Desrochers
Paperback: 368 pages
Publisher: Tor Teen; First Edition edition (September 14, 2010)

I can't wait for this book because I've been hearing a lot of good things about it and the author is really friendly on twitter. NOT just because it's coming out on my birthday. :P

What are you waiting for?

Nyxen's Waiting On Wednesday (9)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine. :D

Let's get started!!

Today I am waiting for Wither by Lauren Destefano.
Thanks to modern science, every human being has become a ticking genetic time bomb—males only live to age twenty-five, and females only live to age twenty. In this bleak landscape, young girls are kidnapped and forced into polygamous marriages to keep the population from dying out.

When sixteen-year-old Rhine Ellery is taken by the Gatherers to become a bride, she enters a world of wealth and privilege. Despite her husband Linden's genuine love for her, and a tenuous trust among her sister wives, Rhine has one purpose: to escape—to find her twin brother and go home.

But Rhine has more to contend with than losing her freedom. Linden's eccentric father is bent on finding an antidote to the genetic virus that is getting closer to taking his son, even if it means collecting corpses in order to test his experiments. With the help of Gabriel, a servant she trusts, Rhine attempts to break free, in the limted time she has left.

Not only is the plot original and very intriguing but the cover is absolutely stunning! 2011 seems like a looooong wait for this book. I can't wait to get my hands on it.

What are you waiting for?

Nyxen's In My Mailbox (6)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme created by Kristi over at The Story Siren.

Today is a very special and sad day. Special because after many tweets from CP and fellow blogger Harmony, I am finally making a vlog! So, this one is dedicated to her. :D

It's also a sad day because as of tomorrow, I will oficially be a tenth grader, a sophmore. *SOB*. I can't believe I'm already a tenth grader! Freshman year went by so fast. So this is also dedicated to the last day summer.

Enough saddness! Let's get on with IMM!

Charlie St. Cloud - Ben Sherwood
Catching Fire - Suzanne Collins
Hourglass - Claudia Gray

ARC Tour:
Ascendant - Diana Peterfreund

Won:
The Eternal Ones - Kirsten Miller

So, that's what I got. Please ignore my monotone-(ish) voice. I am on the verge of getting sick. Which sucks considering I go to school tomorrow. D: What did you get in your mailbox this week?

Nyxen's Waiting on Wednesday (8)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine. :D It's the time where you showcase the books you are eagerly waiting for.

Let's get started!
Today I am waiting for:

Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has survived the Hunger Games twice. But now that she’s made it out of the bloody arena alive, she’s still not safe. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. Who do they think should pay for the unrest? Katniss. And what’s worse, President Snow has made it clear that no one else is safe either. Not Katniss’s family, not her friends, not the people of District 12. Powerful and haunting, this thrilling final installment of Suzanne Collins’s groundbreaking The Hunger Games trilogy promises to be one of the most talked about books of the year.

Don't you hate that it tells us nothing of the story! I want to know what's going to happen. The release date is sooooo close. It comes out August 24th...but I'm going to get it the 28th. Dang! I want this book already. LIKE NAO.

So, what are you waiting for?

Nyxen's Waiting On Wednesday (7)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine where you can showcase the novels you are eagerly waiting for.

It's been awhile since I've done this but let's get started! Today I am waiting for:

Olivia "Livvie" Owen feels things differently than her parents and two sisters. Livvie is autistic. Her family has had to move repeatedly because of her outbursts. When they again face eviction, Livvie is convinced she has a way to get back to a house where they were all happy, once.

The problem is, Livvie burned down that house.

But she's not giving up. Here is her story.

I can't wait for this one! And it's coming out really soon too.

What are you waiting for this week?

IMM is a weekly meme hostd by Kristi at The Story Siren.

I got something this week! And you'll never guess what.

*Insert suspenseful cool music here*

LOOK UP THERE. ^^ Are you looking?
It's The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. If you know me or read my latest Book Blogger Hop post then you'll know I've never read The Hunger Games. I was supposed to get it at the library one day but alas, they didn't have it. I was so sad. So when my friend invited me to the movie theatre and my mom gave me money, I knew the time had come. Thank gosh the movie theatre is right next to Borders. :D We went in to the bookstore and I saw it. I jumped for it-literally, since it was so high up- and immediately paid for. Now I have The Hunger Games. And even though I only got one book this week, it was the best week ever.

Oh, how one little girl could get excited for one meesly book. (:

Book Blogger Hop

It's now time for the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Crazy-For-Books. (Click the picture above to be directed to her blog.) I'm posting this now, on Thursday-even though it's almost Friday-because I already have something for tomorrow. And this is my first time participating in one with questions!

RIGHT THIS INSTANT, WHAT BOOK ARE YOU DYING TO GET YOUR HANDS ON (PAST, PRESENT, OR FUTURE)?

I am dying to get The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Linger by Maggie Stiefvater, and Halo by Alexandra Adornetto.

Both The Hunger Games and Linger are already out but Halo doesn't come out until August 31st. I'm just excited for all of them!

What are you excited for?

Nyxen's Waiting On Wednesday (6)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine where you get to showcase the new books you are waiting to be released.

Today's WoW is:
Told in a letter to her captor by 16-year-old Gemma, Stolen explores the influence that a really wild and remote space can have on the inner development of a young woman.

Gemma, a British city-living teenager, is kidnapped while on holiday with her parents. Her kidnapper, Ty, takes her to the wild land of outback Australia. To Gemma’s city-eyes, the landscape is harsh and unforgiving and there are no other signs of human life for hundreds of kilometres in every direction. Here, there is no escape. Gemma must learn to deal with her predicament, or die trying to fight it.

Ty, a young man, has other ideas for her. His childhood experience of living in outback Australia has forever changed the way he sees things. But he too has been living in the city; Gemma’s city. Unlike Gemma, however, he has had enough. In outback Australia he sees an opportunity for a new kind of life; a life more connected to the earth. He has been watching and learning about Gemma for many years; when he kidnaps her, his plan finally begins to take shape.

But Ty is not a stereotypical kidnapper and, over time, Gemma comes to see Ty in a new light, a light in which he is something more sensitive. The mysteries of Ty, and the mystery of her new life, start to take hold. She begins to feel something for her kidnapper when he wakes screaming in the night. Over the time spent with her captor, Gemma’s appreciation of him develops into what could be referred to as Stockholm syndrome.

I think this is a rather awesome read! And even though it's published in the UK I don't think it's out here.
